What are Sleepers Used For?

Sleepers can be used to define garden borders and act as a stylish segregation and partition to different areas of your garden. They can hold soil in place to create a tiered garden. The key benefit by shopping with Garden Street is, along with great prices, most of our sleepers are pressure treated. This means that if they are used to hold back wet soil and mud, the wood will not rot and disintegrate. If you're after a more flexible border solution, Rowlinson Spiked Border Roll may be suitable for you.

Can I Put A Playhouse Straight Onto Grass? Can I Use Sleepers?

When you purchase a wooden playhouse, you may notice that the instructions may refer to putting this item straight onto grass. No doubt, this would cause confusion, as with most products they require a hard solid base like concrete or patio slabs. The reason for this is to maintain the European Safety Standard of the product. Should a child fall off the building, the impact would be less falling onto grass than it would be on a concrete base.

The issue with putting a wooden product onto grass is that it may now rot from below if not appropriately treated. Although you can paint and treat the sides of a playhouse in time, it is a bit more problematic to access underneath the floor. What is the easiest and most affordable way to stop the base from rotting? The answer is using pressure treated sleepers. Our collection of sleepers include the Heavy Duty Timber Blocks by Rowlinson, which the playhouse can sit on top of.

How Do Sleepers Fix Together?

We have metal connectors available at Garden Street which screw into each sleeper, keeping them together. This provides a secure fit, and ideal once you've decided on where and how you want you wooden sleepers to go. Browse Metpost for their collection of metal accessories.
