Is your fence protected from rot? What about assembly? This section should answer some of the most common questions on Grange products posed to the Garden Street team. If you have any questions that are not covered specific to the Grange range of gardening products contact our expert team on 0333 577 1926.

Are Grange products protected against rot?

All Grange products come protected against decay and rot, with most being pressure treated and some being dip treated.

Pressure treated wood has been treated with liquid preservative to help it fend off decay and deterioration due to rot or insects. This makes it suitable for long term outdoor use, as oppose to untreated wood which would soon deteriorate. Made from only the highest quality materials, we guarantee all pressure treated products for a minimum of 10 years against rot.

To keep your products looking their best we would always recommend retreating them each season - particularly the dip treated ranges.

Are fixings included when you buy from the Grange garden range?

Fixings such as hinges are not included for Grange gates and fencing panels. Flat pack kits such as gazebos will contain all the necessary fixtures and fixings but you will need to provide the tools. Make sure you read the instructions fully before commencing a project.

How many people are needed for assembly of Grange garden products?

For larger structures like gazebos and pergolas, two person assembly is recommended for safety and ease. Most of the Grange products come flat-packed for easy construction.

Will Grange outdoor products need maintenance?

All Grange gardening products are pressure treated or dip treated to protect against rot; this goes deep into the timber and offers much more protection than the dipped products on the market. However wood will naturally change colour and fade with time so a little occasional LTC is needed to keep it looking at its best.

Why has the timber split?

Timber is subject to natural movement and weathering during the seasons. Small splits may appear from drying and warping, this is when the timber is allowed to dry too rapidly. The splits are a natural occurrence and will likely reduce when the humidity rises. It is natural occurrence and not considered a fault.

Regular use of a wood preserver or paint/stain can help to minimise any chance of split timber.

What is Dip Treatment?

Dip treatment is a basic method of preservation aimed at prolonging the life and quality of your wood. Dip treating a product involves dipping this into a mixture of preservatives which helps to protect against common garden problems such as fungal decay. Dip treatment should be considered as a more basic preservation technique, and it is recommended to re-treat dip treated wood in the first 6 months of purchase, and then every 12 months.
